What Coupon Codes Can Do

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

The best things in life are for free. We always look forward to receiving gifts, getting free items from grocery stores, and rebates. This is not simply for monetary reasons because we always have the money to buy our guilty pleasures but there is something about getting free items that makes it a lot different. How would it be if you received freebies from your all time favorite bags and shoes brand?

Most of us who want to take advantage of freebies surf the Internet to look for coupons. Coupons are tickets or document that can be exchanged for a discount or rebate when we intend to purchase a product. Most of the time it is issued by manufacturers and retailers of consumer packed goods that are to be used on retail stores as part of a sales promotion.

The Cola Cola Company started the use of coupons in 1887 when they gave out coupon codes to market their products. This indigenous marketing strategy became a big hit that earned marketing mileage to the company. Soon after, coupons are littered to our mail, our magazines, newspapers, the Internet, and mobile devices such as cell phones.

On the other hand, mobile coupons are also being used as more and more consumers utilize mobile devices for uses beyond making voice calls. The increasing use of the World Wide Web paved the way for popularity of coupon codes, because businesses do not have to pay postal costs. The printing cost is borne by the user, who prints the coupons, rather than the businesses issuing them.

Coupon codes can be found in various websites of online retailers all for the consumption of consumers. Majority of those who frequent these sites save a lot of money through the discounts given and get premium items upon redemption of these coupons. Plus, it is not too difficult to look for these coupons too.

Debt Relief - How to Save Money and Get Out of Debt

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

A great deal of people who want to know how to save money and get out of debt think that it is a straight forward task to just stop spending as much and pay off what you can from what you owe. What they fail to realize is that in many cases they are not paying off as much as they could be.

So are you ready for some tips on how to save some money? First let me put a thought in your mind, when you pay for something you have every day or you do every day do you think about how much it is costing or how much you pay each month for the same thing each day? Your coffee from the machine at work, your trip to and from work in the car, your lunch from the local cheap deli. All of these things add up when you have them on a daily basis.

The major factor in this is that you are looking to save money and to make sure you save money you need to invest time, but by doing small simple tasks you will start to save money and not pay out as much each month meaning you can get out of debt faster.

I used to love the coffeecake pie in my restaurant at work so much so that I used to grab a slice at every opportunity, when I sat down and worked out my yearly costs I could put a over $150 down to coffeecake pie!!! Not only did I feel fat at that point I also thought oh boy I could have used that to pay bills! Not as nice obviously but when the bills are red it goes through your mind. I instantly stopped going to the restaurant and made my lunch the night before and ate it in the park or a quiet area nearby. Not only did this save me money on the pie it saved me money on the other things I would eat while I was in the restaurant.

That handful of change you have in your pocket or your purse that you use to fill up the coffee machine at work all adds up at the end of the week as well. There are two options to this one take your own coffee from home in a flask, the flask will pay for itself in a few weeks and you will still get your coffee. Alternatively stop drinking as much coffee and turn to the healthy option and drink water, that way you win on both counts.

Driving to and from work is an expensive thing if you live a fair way away from work, talk to your work colleagues and ask if they live on route or close to you so you can share the cost of getting to and from work you could half the cost of getting to and from work.

Many people use public transport to get to and from work, if you are taking the bus or the train in most cases it is cheaper to go less stops. So why not try to get off a stop earlier and walk that extra distance to get to work or home from work, this is also really good for you so you get that extra benefit.

Before I start this next part I would like to say I love small business and I think the smaller stores should be the only ones as they are excellent. However in a great number of cases the things you buy from them when you do your weekly shop are probably cheaper from the larger chain stores. This is unfortunate as it would be good for all concerned if small business could compete on price. To get out of debt your loyalty to the small store could be costing you deeply.

Saving money sounds easy but when you think about the money you spend needlessly each week on things you could get elsewhere at a much reduced cost you would probably start to see that it can be achieved quickly and effectively. Making simple changes can save you more money than you realize in the long term.

Great Tips and Ideas to Save on Backed Goods!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Sometimes, you just want something sweet to eat, but, it seems like the prices for baked goods are constantly increasing. In a family, goodies can be both a want and a necessity. Have you ever noticed how well a toddler behaves when he can bet on receiving a cookie as a reward? That being said, satisfying a sweet tooth is not as pleasing when it feels like it’s a major purchase. So, what is a family to do to curtail the cost without cutting out the cookies and cakes? Try these few tips for ways that you may be able to save while still enjoying the sweet stuff:

Make baking a family thing. Processed cookies, cakes, and other goodies can cost a lot of money. So, while an economy crisis is engulfing much of the world, you could enjoy a world of tasty treats by baking at home with your family. Start by researching or creating some frugal recipes. These frugal recipes will most likely call for basic ingredients that you can buy for cheap in bulk. If you buy right, you could end up saving, cost cutting, and still make out better than purchasing the processed stuff for lots of dough in the stores. Plus, your family will have a ball making their frugal recipes come to life!

Don’t miss the deals! Most grocers have store sales every week. Whether it’s a “buy one, get one” deal, a “crushed box” special, or an in-store mark-down for items that are reaching their “sell by” date, there is always a way to save. Some of these goodies that you will catch on special can be frozen for use at a later date. It’s what the stores do in their own bakeries!

Make friends with coupons! It may take a little coordinating and a little effort, but the savings will be anything but little. For many coupons are equivalent to cash when it comes to buying snack foods for their families. With some retailers offering double coupons, which will take your 70c coupon up to $1.40 off of a product, how can people not afford to try these little paper wonders? There are almost always coupons available for baked items in the local Sunday newspaper and on packages of snacks. When you combine these coupons with in-store specials like “buy one, get one”, you could end up with loads of FREE baked good! Yummy!!

Research and find bakery thrift outlets. There is a market for people that buy near “sell by” bakery items along with product overstocks. The bakery companies make these great deals available through their own bakery thrift outlets. At the bakery thrift store, consumers can expect to save as much as 70% off of the retail price tag. If you are planning for a big affair, you could potentially save a mint by picking up your items from a bakery thrift outlet. But remember that the key is saving, so don’t spend a lot of cash on gas trying to get to the thrift shop. Be wise in all of your saving endeavors!

The good news is that you can have your cake and eat it too without costing your family too much

Monday, June 8th, 2009

So, you’re going to have a baby! One of the most exciting things about expecting a new baby is creating a space for your little one. Here’s a 4 step guide for the cost conscious person that wants to decorate without breaking the bank:

Pick your theme, but keep color options open. Before you can start the money saving, you have to know what it is you want or need. Buy for cheap the items that you just can’t live without featuring your chosen theme, but leave the paint color open so that you can get the cheapest possible paint. Instead of spending as much as $30 on specialty paint, you can buy for cheap “oops” paint from your local home improvement store for as little as $4.

Mix or match the wall art. You can find a good variety of wall borders and decals that can be cut into a special design or trimmed to match your theme. Another great place to find wall art is the Clearance area at your local home improvement store. By decorating this way, you could potentially finish the whole room for $5 or less!

To add a little flair and class, consider framing some high resolution pictures that you can find and print from the internet with some cheap, but chic picture frames from your local dollar store. This is a quick and fun way to make the walls really pop without costing your family a lot of cash!

Decide on the room furnishings and their placement. Before you start buying figure out what you want and where it should go. You’ll not only save money, but you will save time. Your baby knows absolutely nothing about what “new” looks or feels like. So don’t get too caught up in that. Focus instead of selecting pieces that are gently used or that you can buy for cheap to do what you need it to do. Any frugal fashionista knows that overbuying is always a bad thing.

Don’t miss opportunities to get stuff for free, to borrow, or to buy for cheap those final pieces to complete the look and feel that you want for the baby’s room. From free classifieds to parent support groups, there are plenty of places to canvass for free, or close to free stuff for baby. You won’t need to pay an arm and a leg. You may only need to pay for some gas and an extra hand to get your “new” stuff home!

Never leave off the thrift or consignment stores which are perfect places for finding fantastic deals for a frugal fashionista. It is highly likely that you will some pieces that you can use, but you may need to modify them a little to blend into your baby room decor. Should You Buy A Refurbished Computer?

Monday, June 8th, 2009

You don’t always have to buy a brand new laptop. If you are getting a lap top for a child, you might be worried that they will not take care of it properly. They might drop them and not be as careful with it as they should and thus you don’t really want to spend a whole lot. Going the route of getting a refurbished laptop is the way to alleviate your fears as you will be spending less and still getting a quality laptop that will get the job done.

Are refurbished laptops a better or worse buy than if you bought one brand new? This is a question many people wrestle with when they don’t want to pay for a new laptop. There is a lot of confusion about exactly what the word “refurbished” means and what you can expect if you buy one.

What it means is that it has most likely been returned by a customer for any number of reasons. Once a laptop is returned by a purchaser, it is sent back to the manufacturer who will try to fix the problem. Often times the problem is minor, like something wrong with the screen, and the manufacturer is able to fix it. At that stage the laptop is shipped back to the store and sold as “refurbished”. This means a refurbished laptop is not new but is most likely in “like new” condition. You can sometimes get good deals on these computers which are practically new.

If you buy a refurbished computer, you need to make sure it comes with a warranty just in case. You may never know what was wrong with it and it could be something as little as a scratch on the case to something more serious like the screen not working . But if you do buy anything that is refurbished you need to get that warranty.

You can be confident that refurbished computers have been tested and gone over by the manufacturer. They have no reason and will lose more money if they send it back out without being fixed. Your school aged child doesn’t need the most expensive laptop but just something to help with the schoolwork. For this type of use, refurbished laptops are a great choice and the risk is minimal. To find refurbished laptops, you can go online to a site like Ebay where you will find hundreds of them and all from the top companies. This is where many companies sell their laptops to the highest bidders and it is where you might be able to get a great deal.

Beating The Price Of Beauty In Three Money-Saving Ways During An Economy Crisis

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Life is too short not too look and feel good about yourself. You don’t have to let yourself “go” during this economy crisis. You can look great and feel great, even if you have to change how you get your beauty services a bit so as not to lose control of your budget. Any frugal fashionista can try these three simple ways to get the beauty services that they want and can buy for cheap or get for free:

Look for salon specials! With most industries on edge during this economy crisis, the truth remains that the beauty industry is no different. Many beauty salons, whether upscale or locally owned shops, are offering massive discounts as they try to get more clients in their chairs. They all know that it’s no good for business to have an empty chair and a beautician that needs to be paid!

Some deals that you should be on the look out for include “two for one” specials which will allow for you and a friend to get a service for the price of only one. That’s a 50% discount off of the retail or regular price. For basics like manicures, splitting the cost with a buddy can be really cost effective. Instead of $15 to make your hands look gorgeous, frugal fashionistas can pay $7.50 and still get noticed!

Take advantage of beauty supply stores. In large areas, more and more beauty supply stores are springing up. For a fraction of the cost of a full salon treatment, frugal fashionistas can buy for cheap, or at least a lot cheaper than those salon prices, the top quality hair, skin, and nail products that the professionals use.

Plus, you may be able to find and use coupons for these beauty goods, for an even greater saving! Cost-conscious frugal fashionistas should look for deals in the stores. Sometimes they will offer coupon books, coupons on the products themselves, or even loyalty program discounts for people buying often. Either way, you can buy for cheap the products that you need and want!

Have a frugal fashionista beauty party! No doubt, during this economy crisis, you are not the only one that you know that would like to save a few dollars and still look as good as possible. So, invite some friends over to share beauty products, do each other’s hair and nails, and swap beauty related coupons. It will be a blast and you can all walk away looking good, feeling good, and with a few dollars left over in your pockets! Just think you won’t have to tip anyone and you will be able to try out some new and fun styles and products…all for free!

They say that there is a price for beauty. During this economy crisis, you can really slash that “price” with a little effort and willingness to shop and try something outside of the “shop”.

Decorating On A Budget

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Everyone wants their house to feel like a real home no matter whether it’s a new condo or a fixer-upper. The key to defining that space is the style of decor that you select. Of course, no one wants to sacrifice creating a pleasant home space because they can’t afford those outrageous retail price tags. During an economy crisis, finding ways to decorate without breaking your budget becomes even more valuable.

Furniture and art can be found in lots of places. From one of a kind pieces of art to antique home furnishings, just taking the time to research, dig through, and look off the beaten path could net you some cool stuff for your home. Here are a few ways to get some great quality pieces without spending great amounts of cash:

1. Try the thrift stores. At your local thrift store or consignment shop, you can expect to find everything from picture frames to sofas and dining room sets at rock bottom prices. Thrift stores get their wares from people that donate pre-owned furnishings. You can find some really fantastic housewares in areas that are considered more upscale because people in those areas tend to change the decor often and their donations are usually of higher quality or made by famous designers. So you could get a high-end piece for practically nothing! Always remember that even if the items are top of the line, you should still get furniture cleaned before using them. Also, try not to overlook furniture that can be “transformed” by adding to it or simply covering with a slipcover.

2. Garage and Yard Sales - People move everyday and instead of lugging everything with them, or if their new homes cannot hold all of their stuff, people will sell off their furniture and household goods for pennies on the dollar. These residential sales often start at the crack of dawn and only last for part of the day. You can find them by looking in your local newspaper or, most commonly, follow the often makeshift signs that will be posted in a neighborhood. If you frequent the library, their may be a community board where you can find postings for yard and garage sales.

3. Online classifieds or auctions - EBay and Craigslist.org are fabulous places to find bargains. Craigslist and Freecycle are even better because they feature postings for items that are absolutely free! Who can’t afford that?!? Many times, the stipulation is that you remove the item quickly. If you do not have a large enough vehicle, consider renting an in-town U-Haul or a pick up truck from a home improvement store to get your new stuff.

Decorate your home for fewer dollars that you ever dreamed by following these simple and fun tips. Any frugal fashionista can have the best looking home on the block with just a little research and willingness to move fast!

Buy Automotive Repair Tools Online to Save a lot of Money

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Without tools, it’s impossible to perform routine automotive maintenance yourself. Tools can save you a lot of time and effort (not to mention expense in the case of car maintenance).

One problem for many people is that automotive repair tools can be very expensive and to be able to handle the range of maintenance tasks which car owners commonly need to perform, you need many different tools. There are of course low-cost tools, but these tools are usually of much lower quality than the more expensive tools and since they don’t last as long, the cost of replacing these tools actually means that they are more expensive! Of course you can still take your car to the garage, but this is even more expensive than taking things into your own hands, which you could do if you had the right tools. If you’d like to learn a little more about keeping your car in good condition without breaking the bank, keep reading for some good ideas.

Buy the Automotive Repair Tools and Air Tools Online

There are many different brands of tools out there and you probably cant find them all at your local auto parts store. Shopping online gives you more options and since online retailers have lower overhead costs, the costs are almost always lower than shopping at a brick and mortar store as well.

It also gives you the freedom to research more information on these tools and compare them with others to see which automotive repair tools are worth the money. Browsing online sites are a lot more convenient because you can see images of these tools complete with descriptions and if you feel the descriptions are not enough, you can always research on other websites to find videos and other media that better describe these tools. Most automotive repair tools arent so difficult to ship either so you dont need to wait long if you decide to order these tools online.

Consider Buying Reconditioned Automotive Repair Tools

Buying tools at the cheapest possible prices isnt always the wrong thing to do because if these automotive repair tools or air tools happen to be reconditioned rather than used, you are ensured higher quality and longer life when using these tools. Because these tools are usually slightly used, the price should never be greater than or equal to the prices of the original tools so you can still save lots of money. As long as these tools have warranties, they should be extremely safe and reliable to use. The convenient thing about these reconditioned tools is the fact that these tools can be found online as well.

It’s easy to find reconditioned tools online and supply yourself with the automotive repair tools (and even household tools) you need to keep your car in peak condition, all without spending a lot of money ” and you can use the money you save to buy even more tools!

When Buying Discount Office Furniture These Are Things To Consider

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Selection of the appropriate discount office furniture for your board room or home office is very important and no matter how inconsequential a detail may seem, it should not be overlooked. Selection of an inappropriate piece of office furniture can be detrimental to your productivity.

There is more than just the look of the office furniture to consider on your search. It is rather important that the piece be nice too look at, but remember, it must also serve its purpose. The ideal piece of office furniture will have both attractive appearance and maximum functionality. Keep reading to find out how to find the perfect piece.

Durability - Whether it is a cubicle, a table, or a working desk, that piece of furniture must be durable enough to withstand the wear and tear that goes along with daily office work. Surfaces must be durable and solid. If the material is made of wood, look for strength and stability. Mahogany or oak as they are some of the best types of wood fit for the job. Should you opt to get something not made out of wood, choose ones that are strong and rust-resistant.

You are looking for a chair, look for one that has a sturdy solid frame and long lasting material. In doing this, however, don’t sacrifice comfort. Chairs should be ergonomic in design and give you back proper support.

Space-Saver - Space is as important as comfort. Thus, it is also important to pick furniture that maximizes your work space. Nobody ever wants to work behind an overly large desk that dwarfs whoever is sitting behind it. Similarly, nobody wants to work in an all too restrictive chair that allows you little or no area to move around it.

Usage and Maintenance - When you select furniture, you need to choose a piece that serves its purpose. If you are selecting a board room table, you want one that will allow many people to work at it at one time. If you are buying a work desk, you want one that is easy to clean, has a durable top and a smooth surface.

Storage - Storage is a major consideration in tables and desks. It helps in organizational efforts if you use space properly when you are working. For this reason little details like compartments and drawers are very important. You will want to select a table or desk that will give you the most storage space for the least effort.

Worth Your Money - A common assumption is that quality office furniture is expensive, as after all quality does not come cheap. Though it’s true in general, if you spend some time and effort to do your research you can buy quality furniture at affordable and reasonable prices. Your research will lead you to shops selling discount office furniture that are of superior quality that you are seeking.

Since most of the basic details have been told to you now, go ahead and find out what else you need to know and figure out your exact needs before picking out your furniture. As soon as you are certain that the function of the material suits your requirement, it won’t take long to do the rest.

The Parents Guide To Making A Frugal Fashionista Out Of Your College Student During An Economy Crisis

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Parents want their kids to fit in when they leave the nest and start to make their way in college. But during this economy crisis, it can be really hard for families to meet the fashion needs of their college age kids because of the high mall and retail prices for the latest styles. That being said, it doesn’t have to be that way. Parents can help their college student to become a frugal fashionista saving, cost-cutting, yet still looking great. Here’s how:

Always put thrift shops on the shopping agenda. Thrift shops have become the fashion mecca for young college students looking to buy for cheap cool clothes to style in. Any frugal fashionista that shops the thrift stores knows that you will find exceptionally hip clothes from the brands that they just can’t do without.

Another alternative is to teach your frugal fashionista all about working the consignment stores. They can take their gently used clothes to these consignment shops and trade them for cash or store credit. Not only will be they be recycling and helping our earth, but they will be helping themselves too. They can take the money that they earn and use it for other things such as travel expenses or food if they would like.

Get her started with online shopping through Ebay and other classified websites like Craigslist and Freecycle. By using the free classified sites, your college frugal fashionista has the chance to get gobs of clothes completely free, which is the only better than having a chance to buy for cheap. But, make sure to tell her to always travel with 2 or more friends when going to retrieve freebies.

Ebay on the other hand is a wonderful alternative to shopping in the stores. Your college student could get the top brands and got-to-have’s of the season at up to 90% off of the retail price! It’s a great way to buy for cheap and get the styles that make her feel good.

Leave off the high priced boutiques and make the low-price retailers your favorite shopping spots! Your frugal fashionista will be able to get all of the top brands and mall-store clothes right at the local discount retail shops like Ross, TJ MAXX, and Marshalls. At these bargain “boutiques”, college students can expect to save as much as 75% off of the regular prices!

Being a frugal fashionista does call for some compromising. Buying items second hand or at the discount retailers may require her to do a little fixing or there may be some tiny flaws, however, the savings will justify buying it. It’s best to buy for cheap and get fantastic styles and deals than to spend every dime that you have trying to be super chic. Another small piece of advice for frugal fashionistas, do your best not to buy clothes that require dry cleaning. In the long run, they could cost you more than you saved!
